The Organizing Committee of the 2023 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Ibiza has met to discuss the final organizational details before the celebration of this sporting event that will attract thousands of triathletes to the island between April 29 and May 7.

The Sports Councilor of the Consell d'Eivissa, Salvador Losa, has defined it as a sporting event of "importance" for the island that will demonstrate "our organizational capacity and that allows us to consolidate our position as a leading sports destination, hosting world championships like this one, where both the direct and indirect impact will be very important". Losa thanked the involvement and work of the municipalities of Eivissa, Santa Eulària and Sant Antoni, the Spanish Triathlon Federation, and the support of World Triathlon "to carry out this world championship that will be the litmus test to demonstrate that Ibiza has the organizational logistics for our island to be in the focus of international sport".

José Hidalgo, president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation has advanced that, pending the official data of registered participants, which already exceed 3,000, estimates of the direct impact of the world championship on the economy of Ibiza can reach 15 million euros. "We must take into account that the triathlete profile is an athlete with high purchasing power who travels with two or three companions, which will mean an important direct impact for the island, to which we must add the media impact for which we will do an audit after the celebration of the world cup." The average stay of the participants in the World Championship will be from ten to fourteen days.

Hidalgo confirmed that the 2023 World Triathlon Multisport Championship Ibiza has already surpassed the record of international registrations with more than 60 different nationalities. To mention some of the countries registered, Hidalgo has named Egypt, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Kuwait, Israel, Mexico, among others. The number of participants in an international event has also been surpassed, "which shows the excitement and interest that this sporting event has aroused, confirming that 2023 is the year of sport in Ibiza".

In addition, the PTO (Professional Triathlete Organisation), has decided that this year's European event will also be held in Ibiza coinciding with the championship, "which will increase the media coverage of Ibiza". Hidalgo has also stressed the sustainable nature of the event and has advanced that a guide is being edited to inform participants and citizens in general of all the relevant information of the event: parallel activities, schedules of the races, affectations...

The 2023 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Ibiza will be the first of the three major international events that our country will host in this historic 2023 since the European Championships will also take place in Madrid from 2 to 4 June and as a culmination the Grand Final of the World Series to be held in Pontevedra along with the Paratriathlon World Championships from 20 to 24 September.
